Understanding the claims process
At SAIF we support both Oregon workers and their employers by building strong safety cultures and preventing injuries. But if an injury does happen, we are here to guide and support you through what to do next, with the goal of helping you get back to your job as soon as medically appropriate.
Here are five things you need to know about the claim process.
How to file a claim
If you’re hurt, report it to your supervisor right away—even if you don’t need medical treatment.
A claim officially begins when you seek medical treatment and file an 801 form. Your employer should provide the form, or you can find it at saif.com/801form. Fill out the top section and return it to your employer. Your employer must submit Form 801 to SAIF within five days.
How your claim is evaluated
Once your claim is received, a claims adjuster will contact you to gather details from you, your employer, and your doctors. SAIF has 60 days by law to make a decision. Your adjuster will help coordinate communication with your employer and doctors, be your guide to facilitate and support your return to work with any necessary accommodations, and educate you about the benefits you are eligible for.

How to register for MyClaim
Track your claim, payments, and documents online through MyClaim. It’s the easiest way to stay informed and get reimbursed. Register here or by clicking the green "Log in" button at the top of the screen.
How to submit reimbursement
You can request reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses such as prescriptions or mileage driven to and from your medical appointments. Be sure to give your medical provider your claim number, so they can submit their bills to SAIF for review and payment. Find out how to qualify, and which items, appointments and receipts you should keep track of at getting reimbursed.
Stay involved, stay informed
The claims process can be much smoother for workers who engage and communicate with SAIF and their employers and participate in treatment and recovery.
Always communicate your work releases and changes in symptoms and treatment with SAIF and your employer. Make sure you attend all medical appointments and therapy as prescribed.
