Service Center threshold change coming in 2026
The threshold for service center policies is changing.
Effective January 1, 2026, the threshold guideline for service center policies handled by SAIF’s Customer Care Center team will increase from $20,000 to $40,000 in manual premium at renewal*.
Policies renewing on or after January 1, 2026, that are currently written in our regional underwriting department and have been identified for conversion to a service center policy based on the new premium threshold, will be manually reviewed and automatically issued 35 days prior to renewal, following our existing process used by the customer care center team.
To ensure a smooth policyholder experience as policies are transferred from the region to the service center, we’re expanding pricing tier availability for service center policies. Tiers K, G, H, & L will now be available for pricing in the service center.
As our SAIF underwriting and Customer Care Center team members communicate renewal terms and conditions, please proactively let us know of any desired payment plan changes ahead of time. This will help ensure policies are issued with the correct plan.
Policies with the following complexity characteristics will continue to be handled by our regional underwriting department:
- Farm and labor contractors (NAICS code 115115)
- Leasing & Temporary Services (NAICS codes 561311, 561312, 561320, 561330)
- Retrospective Rated Policies, including all with open evaluations from prior periods
- Wrap-up policies
- Policies endorsed with federal coverage
- Policies in combinations where total combined premiums exceed $40,000
If you have additional questions, please contact your SAIF agency marketing specialist, Erika Meier, Tami Coxen, or Tina Fowler. They have already shared details about the threshold change earlier this week with your agency’s main contact on file with SAIF.
*This threshold is calculated at tier E rates and subject to regulatory approval.
