In SAIF’s sizzling new video series, chefs compete to see who’s got the chops when it comes to avoiding common kitchen hazards, including cuts and burns, strains and falls, and chemicals and equipment.

Here are 10 reasons to watch SAIF’s new video series, Kitchen safety showdown:

  1. Oregon added 4,100 new restaurant and lodging jobs in 2017, the third fastest-growing industry behind construction and health care.
  2. Restaurant workers are twice as likely to be hurt on the job, compared to the service industry as a whole.
  3. Many young workers get their first jobs in restaurants. Let’s make sure they start safely.
  4. Even if you don’t work in a restaurant, you or someone you love probably spends a lot of time in the kitchen. We care about your safety—at work and at home.
  5. Knife cuts are the most common type of restaurant injury, followed by slips, trips and falls; strains and sprains; and burns.
