These are extraordinarily difficult times for Oregon businesses and workers, and all of us at SAIF are committed to doing our share to provide relief to those hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are committed to helping policyholders maintain coverage.
During this difficult time, we know some of you are facing significant changes to your business. Some of those changes may impact your workers’ compensation policy, and we want to make sure you know we are here to help.
It’s important for employers to report payroll accurately to make sure you aren’t paying too much, or too little, for workers’ compensation. If you are having difficulty making payments or if any of the following have occurred, please contact your agent or SAIF as soon as possible.
- Ceased operations
- Added additional products or services (like starting delivery services)
- Reduced or increased payroll
- Continue to pay employees who are not engaged in any work activities
- Changed operations, such as having employees work from home
We understand the hardship many of you are encountering. We’re here to help answer your questions and try to reduce the financial uncertainty by making sure you are paying the correct premium.
Policyholders who are not able to pay premiums due to loss of income because of the COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible for a single 60-day grace period. For more details, contact SAIF at 800.285.8525.
We are committed to helping workers.
Injured workers may face challenges accessing medical care as providers shift their focus to fighting the pandemic.
Because of this, we will continue to pay authorized time-loss benefits even if workers do not receive follow-up treatment within the 30-day requirement or fail to schedule or attend a closing exam as a result of those challenges for the duration of the emergency. We are also expanding the use of telemedicine, and allowing diagnostic tests for coronavirus without a required worker-specific prescription.

As a safety and health company, we are taking the coronavirus pandemic very seriously. We've taken important steps to ensure the safety of our employees and customers across the state, including canceling events and field visits and requiring the vast majority of our employees to work from home. Although our physical offices are currently closed, we stand ready to assist policyholders and injured workers from home offices all over the state.
