Distractions—especially phones and work-related tasks—can take your eyes, hands, and mind off the road, with disastrous consequences. In Oregon, distracted driving continues to cause thousands of crashes, injuries, and fatalities each year.
From 2019–2023 in Oregon:
- 28,699 crashes involved a distracted driver
- 221 people were killed and more than 28,000 were injured
- Nearly 2,000 crashes involved a driver using a cell phone

- Put your phone on silent or “do not disturb” before driving
- Set navigation and controls before you start moving
