We are seeking a respected, agile, strategic CEO who systemically applies inclusive practices in their approach to leadership and customer service.
SAIF's President and CEO is responsible for leading Oregon's premier workers' compensation insurer and one of the Northwest's most successful not-for-profit companies.
In consultation with, and under the direction of, the Board of Directors, the President and CEO has two primary roles: (1) carrying out the strategic mission and direction established by the board; and (2) as the leader of the executive team, managing all aspects of the company's operations.
In fulfilling these roles, the President and CEO ensures that SAIF makes workers' compensation insurance available to as many businesses as reasonably possible while protecting the Industrial Accident Fund, safeguarding workers' health, and delivering timely benefits to injured workers.
The Board of Directors seeks a respected, ethical, intellectually agile and inclusive leader who is strategic, inspiring, and adaptable. Candidates should have strengths in both external relations and high-level internal management, with an ability to balance the two.
Our ideal candidate has expertise in business leadership and how to drive performance. The ability to confidently and effectively work with Oregon's political and judicial leaders in workers' compensation is important.
The next President and CEO should have experience working with a board of directors and an executive team to set direction and develop and implement policies, and successfully developing, implementing, and evaluating complex business projects and programs. The ideal candidate is creative, has the ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions, and can establish positive relationships with employees, customers, public officials, partners, and interest groups.
The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate leadership strengths that include big picture thinking, problem solving, decision making, organization, coaching, data analysis, and team building. As the top executive, he or she will need to be exceptional in all aspects of communication, such as listening, storytelling, persuasion, negotiation, relationship management, and public relations.
The next President and CEO will be a credible and articulate spokesperson, in person and in writing, capable of reinforcing and building positive understanding of and reputation for the work of the organization.
Education: A bachelor's degree in business management, finance, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional designation is preferred.
Experience: Twelve years increasingly responsible business management experience that includes five years executive-level experience as a CEO or as a leader of a large, critical business function in a midsized company or government agency. Deep knowledge of insurance, financial services, or a related field.
