Getting back to work
After 90 years in the workers compensation business, we know that what you want most is to get healthy and get back to work as soon as you are able. Its our job to help make that process as easy as possible.
Not able to return to regular work right away?
If you cannot return to work right away due to physical restrictions or constraints, our return-to-work consultants will work with your employer and attending physician (or authorized nurse practitioner) to assist in returning you to a transitional job whenever possible. Transitional work
In some cases, getting back to work may first involve performing temporary transitional work before you are able to return to your regular job. If your doctor has restricted you from returning to your regular job, your employer may be able to offer you transitional work during your recovery based on your physician's recommendations of what you are capable of doing.Transitional work can be a job completely different from your regular position or it can simply be a modified version of the regular job you were performing at the time of your injury.
Permanent work restrictions
Your attending physician may indicate you are not able to return to your regular job on a permanent basis. If your employer is unable to accommodate your permanent restrictions, you may be eligible for additional benefits including vocational assistance and/or be eligible for the Preferred Worker Program.Vocational assistance
Vocational assistance is one of several types of claim benefits. It may involve help in finding work with current skills, or it may mean retraining for a new job. Vocational assistance may include any of the services, goods, allowances, and wage loss payments used to assist you in returning to work.A review of your eligibility for retraining or other employment assistance occurs when you have permanent work restrictions due to your injury and it is likely you will have a permanent disability according to the benefit table determined by law.
You can only receive vocational assistance if you are eligible. However, you have the right to request an eligibility evaluation for vocational services.
If you have any questions regarding your entitlement to these benefits, please contact your vocational coordinator.
