Clausen Oysters

Harvesting oysters year-round on Oregon's largest oyster farm

For more than 50 years, day or night, the workers at Clausen Oysters have been harvesting the mud flats of North Bend.

When oyster farming is your business, your workday isn’t set by the time—it’s set by the tides. The oysters sit in the bay for three years feeding off the algae in the sea water. When fully grown, they are harvested during low tide and then shipped around the world—or served in Clausen’s onsite restaurant.
