SAIF greenhouse gas emission reports published

The reports will help identify areas where emissions can be reduced.

A primary goal of SAIF's ongoing sustainability efforts is to reduce our greenhouse gas footprint. Knowing the size of our current footprint will guide the actions we take in the near future.

That's why in 2008 and 2009 we studied the greenhouse gas emissions of much of our operations. The results of those studies are now available.

Emission report summary
The studies show that our 2009 Scope I and II greenhouse gas emissions were approximately the same as our 2008 emissions.

Future greenhouse gas data will allow more meaningful comparisons and guide a strategy to lower emissions. Monthly energy data is now being collected from all SAIF locations, including leased locations, so we can more easily see increases and decreases in energy use.

Changes made in 2009 already are helping to improve 2010 emissions. For 2010, SAIF will identify specific areas and strategies to lower emissions, especially electricity.
