A free Family Day Event is scheduled at the Oregon State Capitol on Saturday, February 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to celebrate Oregon's 150th birthday. The sesquicentennial celebration will feature exhibits in the capitol and mall area, and children's activities. The first 500 children will receive gift bags. Hot dogs, chips, drinks, and ice cream will be served.
Tours of the capitol will be held every half hour, and, for entertainment, there will be square dancing and choir music.
At noon, the Oregon State Police Color Guard, the senate president, speaker of the house, and the governor will preside over a special ceremony in the rotunda of the State Capitol.
Sesquicentennial events are happening all over the state in the coming months. For more information about how you can participate in the celebration of Oregon's 150th birthday, no matter where you live, visit the Oregon 150 website.
