WORKERS´ COMPENSATION INSURANCE FOR OREGON   800.285.8525

Billing SAIF

You should be compensated fairly and promptly for providing medical treatment to a worker. In this section, find out more about submitting a bill, receiving payment, and filing for reconsideration.

Good to know

  • Continue to bill us in no more than 60-day intervals until notified of a denial becoming final
  • Do not bill anyone else, including the worker, while the claim is in process
  • If the injured worker requests a copy of the billing info for her records, you must provide a copy.

Timelines

Under the rules of Oregon's workers' compensation system:
  • From the time a workers' comp claim is filed, SAIF has 60 days to decide whether to accept the claim. For everyone's benefit, our goal is to make that decision in much less time. Payment does not begin until the decision is made, unless we h ave requested specific information or records from you.
  • You have up to 60 days from the date of treatment to submit a bill to us. Billing received after one year after the date of service is not payable by SAIF.  See Oregon Administrative Rule 436-009-0010 (5).
  • SAIF has 45 days from the date that all necessary information is received to pay a bill. Because we know how important a prompt response is, we usually pay them much sooner. See OAR 436-009-0030 (3).
If you have any questions about billing, please don't hesitate to contact us at 800.285.8525 and ask for Medical Audit Review.
