OSU and SAIF partner on drug education project

A new program seeks to create cost reduction through provider and prescriber education.

As medical providers and prescription drug prescribers know, drug prices can vary significantly and price does not necessarily correlate with efficacy.

To help providers reduce costs without affecting quality of care, SAIF is partnering with Oregon State University's College of Pharmacy to conduct a targeted prescriber education program.

Using evidence-based research from the multi-state Drug Effectiveness Review Project, OSU is analyzing physician prescribing patterns and contacting physicians who may benefit from education about drug effectiveness. The recommendations are voluntary.

As they are reviewed, additional classes of drugs will be posted on the "Smart Drug Choices" page on this site, so please check back to learn more. View the most recent prescription drug comparison, sedative hypnotics.
