Keeping rates low

So you’d like to lower your rates, but you don’t have a lot of extra time to devote to it. Here are a few quick tips that could help.

Improving your mod

If you have an experience rating modification (or “mod”), preventing injuries and controlling claim costs will help keep your mod down.

Timely filing

Filing a workers’ compensation claim quickly is essential. You have five days to file a claim from the date you were told the employee wants to file. Always report workplace injuries as soon as you can -  timely filing can control claim costs and help your employee return to work.

Safe workplace

You may be able to reduce your rates by improving your safety rating through the creation of a return-to-work program, a safety committee, or other safety programs.

Nondisabling claim reimbursement

Consider participating in the Nondisabling Claim Reimbursement Program. It could help you reduce or eliminate claim costs that are considered when determining your future experience rating modification factors. Open the Nondisabling Claim Reimbursement Form (F-3135).
