SAIF sponsors 2007 AGC ROSE awards
Oregon construction companies are honored for their outstanding dedication and commitment to safety.
Oregon companies setting the standard for leadership in construction safety were honored by Governor Ted Kulongoski at the Associated General Contractors 2007 ROSE Award luncheon.
SAIF sponsored both the ROSE (Recognition of Safety Excellence) competition and the award luncheon.
AGC members packed a downtown Portland banquet room to watch R&H Construction of Portland receive the Outstanding Safety Program award for its exceptional program and presentation.
The other ROSE award winners were:
- Building Division, Small: Robert Gray Partners
- Building Division, Medium: Pence/Kelly Concrete
- Heavy Division: Goodfellow Brothers
- Highway Division: Max J. Kuney Co.
- Specialty Contractor: Reese Electric
In addition, certificates of appreciation were awarded to:

- Russell Construction, Inc. of Tualatin
- Batzer, Inc. of Medford
- Emerick Construction Company of Portland

The 2007 PRIDE Award winners were Emerick Construction and Reese Electric.
Many of the winners are SAIF policyholders: Batzer, Inc., Emerick Construction, Freeman Rock, In-Line Commercial Construction, Inc., Max J. Kuney, Pence/Kelly, Permacold Engineering, Reese Electric, Reitmeier Mechanical, Robert Gray Partners, Russell Construction, and Tomco Electric.
The competitors' programs include written safety and health programs, management commitment and accountability, demonstrated use of safety practices, job site safety inspections, active safety committees, and employee involvement and training. Their application consists of quantitative safety measures, program evaluations, and qualitative essays.
